UnixWare ® 7.1.1
Base Edition
|
|
Exceptionally Adaptable Platform for Specialized
Server Solutions

The UnixWare® 7 Release 7.1.1 Base Edition operating system
is the most advanced operating environment for network-centric,
client/server or host-based business-critical systems using industry-standard
Intel processors. Powered by the new SVR5 multitasking dynamic kernel,
it is the ideal foundation for creating turnkey solutions where
reliability and low cost are critical. Designed as a platform for
building specialized systems, the Base Edition can be easily augmented
with a powerful line of UnixWare 7 Optional Services that provide
scalability extensions, reliability and availability extensions,
file and print services, additional intranet services and messaging
extensions.
The Base Edition provides all the key system services required
for a standalone or networked platform including powerful multi-tasking
support, unsurpassed scalability, fast TCP/IP networking, Internet
mail services, Java and market-leading Netscape® Web-server
technology. The system is loaded with ease-of-use and ease-of-management
features, with particularly strong remote-management capabilities
that work equally well over a dial-up or networked connection via
the exciting new UnixWare 7 Webtop based on Tarantella web-enabling
technology. System management can be performed via a character interface
or graphical point-and-click SCOadmin managers. Administrators can
completely automate batch processing or schedule routine administration
tasks for off-peak, unattended completion by leveraging the Base
Editions powerful scripting tools and system utilities.
You can easily tailor the Base Edition to maximize available hardware
resources for dedicated-purpose solutions. It delivers the freedom
of choice provided by industry standardcomponents and unparalleled
reliability for deploying business-critical servers to deliver specialized
functions such as computer telephony or self-service kiosks.
