  1. Which Xinuos Products can be registered on the web?
All Xinuos products introduced after May, 1995, can be registered on the web. The Xinuos Web Registration system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For OpenServer, UnixWare7, and Open UNIX 8 products, the registration key, required for disabling the registration reminder messages, is displayed on the screen at the end of your registration session.
  2. What if I can't find my product in the Xinuos Product Listing on the Registration Web site?
All products are listed under the following Product Families - OpenServer Release 5.0.7, OpenServer Release 5.0.6 or earlier, UnixWare 7.1.4 and 7.1.3, UnixWare7.1.1 or earlier, SCOoffice, Open UNIX 8 (UnixWare 7.1.2), and UnixWare 2.1. You can scroll for the specific product or edition you're registering using the pull-down menu to the right of the Product Family. If you do not find your product, please select Other from the bottom of the appropriate Product Family list. It is important to stay in the same Product Family since the different families have different Registration outcomes.
  3. What if I have questions about my web registration?
If you have questions about your Xinuos Web Registration session or would like to provide feedback, you can e-mail us at webreg@sco.com. Xinuos staff worldwide will respond during regular business hours.
  4. Is there a way to make registration easier if I have multiple products to register, or register often?
In order to simplify re-entry to the registration site, we recommend that you create an account with your own unique login and password. This will enable you to bypass the customer profile portion of the Web registration process. In addition, if you're registering a product from one of the following product families, you can register up to five Xinuos products in any one registration session:
    - OpenServer Release 5.0.6 or earlier
    - UnixWare 7.1.1 or earlier
    - Open UNIX 8
    - UnixWare 2.1
If you're registering an OpenServer Release 5.0.7, UnixWare 7.1.4 or 7.1.3, SCOoffice Mail Server, product, you can only register one product at a time.
  5. If I'm a reseller registering on behalf of my customer, how can I create an account and still register the product(s) in my client's name?
You can create an account in your name, and then, if you indicate in the "User Type" menu that you are a reseller, VAR, or other channel partner, you will be prompted in the next screen for some information on your customer. Upon completion of the registration session, your customer's information will be displayed on the registration confirmation screen and subsequent confirmation e-mail. Alternatively, you can elect to bypass the end user information screen and register a product in your own name.
  6. Why do I need to fill in all of the data fields on the registration form?
The data Xinuos collects provides important feedback to Xinuos's Engineering and Product Development organization. It helps Xinuos learn more about you and your uses of Xinuos products, and enables Xinuos to provide you with products and services more directly targeted to your platform and environment. If you register often, please create an account name and password to decrease the amount of data you will need to enter when you register your products.
  7. What do I do if I get a Duplicate License message?
If, after completing the Registration form, the Duplicate License error message displays, first of all check that your license or registration lock entry matches your license documentation. If you notice an error, click on Resubmit to return to the Registration form where you can make the correction. If the information is correct, the duplicate license message could be due to one of the following reasons:
    • You are reinstalling a registered operating system on the same server
    • You are installing a registered operating system on a different server
    • You encountered a server problem during the Registration process, and had to start the process again
    • You are registering an additional service for your existing license

If one of these options matches the specifics of your Registration, please select the appropriate option and click on Continue to proceed with the Registration. However, if there appears to be no explanation for the duplicate license, please click on "I was not aware the the license(s) were previously registered." This will allow you to proceed with the Registration, and will alert Xinuos staff that additional research may be required.

  8. What if the registration key that is generated does not work?
It is very rare for the registration key not to work. Please check the license number and system ID or Registration Lock you submitted VERY carefully against your License documentation or License Manager. If any of the characters or numbers contained in the data string are different from those you submitted on the web form, the registration key you received will not work. If the numbers are different, please re-register using the correct license number(s) and system ID or registration lock. If your registration key still does not work, please call Xinuos's Help Desk or e-mail Xinuos's web escalation address listed under item 3 above.
  9. What is a registration lock and why does it contain such a long string of characters and numbers?
The registration lock is currently only used in conjunction with Xinuos's OpenServer 5.0.7 or UnixWare 7.1.3 products. It is a unique code comprised of data from your license number, system ID, product ID, and a number of other variables which pass critical information to Xinuos's registration application.
Because the registration lock is such a long string of characters and numbers, Xinuos has provided several methods of pre-populating the registration lock field, including a Browse button, a direct URL from your e-mail application, and cut and paste. These methods are documented in both the product release notes and the registration pages.
  10. How can I view my Registration account history and make edits to registered user information?
Xinuos has provided a Registration help tool called "License Management" which you may access either from Xinuos's Registration Home Page or from the right hand navigation bar after you have logged in. This tool allows you to search for licenses registered under your account by date range, product family, license number, or you can view all activity recorded to date. The search result yields detailed license information, including any end user data if you have registered on behalf of your customer.
If you need to make edits to your primary customer profile information, you may do so at any time by selecting "Update Profile" on the Customer Profile screen. If you're a reseller, you can edit your end user information when you select "Existing Customer" on the End User screen. If you need to transfer a license to another company, please submit the transfer details via e-mail to webreg@sco.com.
