SCO OpenServer™ 6 Maintenance Pack 2
7 March 2006: SCO announces availability details for Maintenance Pack 2 for all SCO OpenServer 6 customers. This announcement includes:
Product Description
Maintenance Pack 2 is the latest maintenance update for SCO OpenServer 6. This maintenance offering contains a large number of maintenance updates, new features, and improved hardware support, updated versions of many open source components as well as the new separately licensable Online Data Manager and Mirroring add-on products which were previously announced. This Maintenance Pack should be applied by all OpenServer 6 customers at their next opportunity.
Availability
Current OpenServer 6 customers can download OpenServer 6 Maintenance Pack 2 immediately at no charge. The files along with a detailed description of their content and installation instructions can be found on the SCO Download site at: www.sco.com/support/download.html/release.php?rid=133. It may also be obtained from SCO's FTP site at: ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver6/600/mp/osr600mp2. Customers are advised to read the installation instructions first since MP2 is not removable.
OpenServer 6 Media Kits have been updated with a Maintenance CD containing Maintenance Pack 2.
Contents
Maintenance Pack 2 is cumulative with Maintenance Pack 1 and supersedes it. It is fully compatible with the prior pack, and may be installed without its removal. A selection of the components in Maintenance Pack 2 is as follows:
- SCO OpenServer 600 Release Supplement RS600B - Basic Maintenance recommended for all OpenServer 6 customers.
- Large file support has been added to the FTP and secure copy (scp) commands.
- The Java 2 Standard Edition has been updated to Release 1.4.2_10
- A graphical interface for modifying kernel system tunables has been added to SCO Admin
- The X.Org X Server has been upgraded to release 6.9.0 and includes support for the ATI Radeon RN50E driver
- Enhanced compatibility support for OpenServer 5 and SVR5 applications
- The new optional Online Data Manger and Mirroring add-ons
New/Updated Hardware Support:
- Dual Core support for CPUs from AMD
- UPS Support
- Serial ATA (SATA) Tape Support
- An updated network driver package
- PCI parallel port support
- Enhanced international keyboard support
Updated Open Source Components including:
- Squid 2.5.12, Apache 1.3.34, Perl 5.8.7, Samba 3.0.20Ac
- Mozilla 1.7.12, VIM 6.4, Extended Shells 1.4
- OpenSSH 4.2.pl including large file support, PHP 4.4.2
- A major PostgreSQL upgrade to Release 8.1.3
