Dear OpenServer Customer,
SCO OpenServer continues to thrive as a critical engine for businesses all over the world and is still one of SCO's best-selling products. Companies around the world have deployed millions of copies and rely on OpenServer to keep their businesses running. Companies like McDonald's, BMW, Dixons, Eckerd, and Pizza Hut continue to rollout OpenServer as a vital part of their IT infrastructure.
Why is OpenServer still so successful? The reasons are clear:
- Rock solid stability and dependability – operates round the clock, 365 days a year
- Secure – sensitive business and client data is kept confidential
- New releases preserve application compatibility– protects application investments
- Unbeatable value in terms of price and reliability running on Intel hardware.
SCO is committed to continuing development and support of OpenServer. SCO's engineering teams are in the final stages of testing the next release of OpenServer, due to ship in early 2003. This new release, OpenServer 5.0.7, will add new hardware support, full USB 2.0 functionality, improved networking subsystems, and will include support for Open Source products that were formerly part of skunkware. The Open Source Products that are now integrated and supported in OpenServer 5.0.7 include Samba, Squid, OpenSSL and Open SSH. Businesses can now use these products with full confidence, knowing that SCO technical support is available for them.
SCO customers have known for years its UNIX platforms are among the most secure on the market. Now its been confirmed by an independent risk management company mi2g, Ltd., who stated in a report published in October, 2002:
"Based on the number of vulnerabilities announced in 2002 that affect operating systems, the SCO UNIX, Apple Macintosh and Compaq Tru64 appear to be the least prone to hacker attach and damage from viruses and worms."
When SCO releases OpenServer 5.0.7 an exciting new update program will be introduced that will deliver new features, maintenance releases and drivers electronically or optionally, via CDROMs. This new update model is designed to allow you to update your systems unattended and remotely. We'll bring you more information about this program later this year.
We understand that you rely on OpenServer and its future to deliver solutions to your business problems today. Your loyalty and commitment to this platform is highly valued by SCO and we are dedicated to delivering OpenServer value long into the future.
Yours sincerely,
Darl McBride
