UnixWare Hardware Developer Documentation

The HDKdoc package includes the HDK documentation other than manual pages that discuss how to develop device drivers for UnixWare 7 and OpenServer 5. To view the documentation, install it on a UnixWare 7 system, then bring up the scohelp(X1) browser.

This documentation set includes a number of enhancements to the UnixWare 7 Release 7.0.0 and HDK documentation set. Major additions include:

  • Documentation about the UnixWare 7 PC Card interface
  • Documentation about the UnixWare 7 Hot Plug Controller interface
  • Full commentary for a sample UnixWare 7 DDI 8 driver
  • Enhanced introductory and general information for both UnixWare 7 and OpenServer driver development.

For information about the entire UnixWare/OpenServer Hardware Development Kit (HDK) release, see the HDK Release Notes.

Known limitations

Note the following limitations for this release:
  • A Lost and Found item shows on the left frame of ScoHelp when this package is installed. This has no impact and can be ignored.
  • This package cannot be installed on OpenServer systems. OpenServer customers can install the HDKman package for local access to the bi-platform HDK manual pages and can access the non-manpage documentation either from the SCO Web Page or the flatfile on the CD; see "For more information" below.
  • This documentation set can be accessed through lynx or other character browsers, although the presentation format is not ideal.

For more information

More information concerning HDK documentation may be found in Using the HDK documentation set. The full HDK documentation set may be viewed at the Hardware and Driver Development Documentation.

Postscript versions of the HDK manpages can be downloaded for printing from the the HDK postscript documentation archive

This documentation set can also be read directly from the CD. To do this, mount the CD and use any frames-based browser on any operating system to access it. For example, if the CD is mounted on /cdrom, access it as:
