Ptf9052e (and ptf9052f) included an increase in the kernel clock
tick rate, from a fixed rate of 100 to a configurable rate with a
default of 1000.
The default clock tick rate can be overridden by setting the kernel
boot parameter KHZ to one of several permitted values (100, 200,
500, 1000, 2000).
Setting the system clock interrupt rate to a higher frequency, as is
done by installing ptf9052e and ptf9052f, may be related to some
system hangs or reboots reported to SCO, as described above. These
issues are under investigation.
To restore the interrupt clock rate back to the previous default
value of 100 Hz, either install ptf9052g (or later) or set the clock
rate manually by adding:
KHZ=100
on a line by itself to the file /stand/boot and rebooting the system.
NOTES:
At this time, the only application that requires the system
interrupt clock rate to be increased is MergePRO Desktop Edition.
Default tunable parameter values are acceptable for most
configurations and applications. If your application has special
performance needs, you should use care when adjusting tunable values
and verify the the application and system are operating correctly.
