Problem
HARDWARE:
Compaq systems using the Smary Array 5300 host bus controller.
This HBA uses the ciss driver.

The system will not automatically reboot. Issuing either of the
commands listed below will not cause the system to automatically
reboot and the system has to be manually powered off:

                 # init 6
          OR:

                 # shutdown -i6

CAUSE:
There was a problem with the ciss driver not communicating properly
with the Compaq Smart Array 5300 controller.

Solution
This problem is fixed in EFS 5.48. This EFS can be downloaded from
the New HP at the following URL:
(due to the Compaq and HP merger, this URL can change without notice)

          http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/download/14542.html

Please remove the old EFS and install this new EFS and reboot your
system. The system will now be able to automatically reboot upon
issuing the init 6 or shutdown -i6 commands.

NOTE:
When adding new disks using the "ciss" BTLD on the Compaq SmartArray
5300 RAID Controller use the new "mkdev cpqciss" command not "mkdev
hd" when adding additional disks. This feature is supplied by the
Compaq EFS Utility disks by adding the Compaq Intelligent Storage
Subsystem Driver. This allow you to create any new appropriate
device nodes in /dev. "mkdev hd" will still work, but only on the
device nodes that are created by default when the system is installed.

"mkdev cpqciss" calls "mkdev hd" so when you run the command for the
first time it will suggest you re-boot the server and run "mkdev hd"
for the second time. You need to run "mkdev cpqciss" for the second
          time.
