Problem
I have installed the Compaq UPS agents but some of the UPS options
are grayed out in the Compaq Insight Manager.

NOTE:
An issue with the Compaq UPS agent leaking streams memory has been
identified and reported to Compaq for investigation and resolution.
This problem can be identified by the 'freekv' value decreasing
steadily over time. The freekv value can be displayed by
running the 'sar -r' command if the sar system activity data
collection and performance monitoring utility is enabled. If this
is not enabled then occasionally running the command 'sar -r 1 1'
and comparing the freekv values taken during the day will confirm
          whether this problem is happening.
Current recommendation is to remove the Compaq UPS monitoring agent
software unless this is really necessary for operation of the server.
Removal can be done by issuing the command 'pkgrm cpqups'.

CAUSE:
The Compaq Insight Manager and the Compaq UPS agent are not correctly
communicating. This may be due to the a corruption during the
installation of either package or the versions of each product may not
          fully support each other.

Solution
Following are three steps necessary to ensure that both versions are
          correct:

             1. Re-install the latest Compaq Insight Manager (CIM) agent for
the Compaq UPS. These are available from:

                http://www.compaq.com/support/files/index.shtml

             2. Install the latest Compaq Insight Manager software on your
Windows client. This is also available from:

                http://www.compaq.com/support/files/index.shtml

             3. Check the CIM console because at this stage, under Recovery
button, UPS button should be active now!

If not then, the Compaq Power Management (CPQCPM) Insight
plug-in must be installed in the CIM console on the PC.

                To do this:

                a) Close Compaq Insight Manager Console if it is running.
                b) On the CIM Management CD go to directory \cpqcpm\insight\eng
                   and run setup.exe
                c) Reboot the PC where CIM Console is installed.
                d) After reboot you will be able to see full details about
                   the UPS

NOTE:
In order to ensure that "root" receives messages regarding power
outage, you must configure messages to be sent to "root" when power
has been removed and restored from the UPS "Alert Handling" icon
within the Compaq Insight Manager program.
