Advanced File and Print Server Installation and Release Notes

Verifying the installation

Verify that Advanced Server is running and has the correct configuration by running the following tests:

  1. Log in to any UNIX account and use net logon administrator to connect to the Advanced Server Administrator account. You will prompted to provide the Advanced Server administrator's password.

  2. Use net start to verify that the default Advanced Server services are running: ALERTER, BROWSER, EVENTLOG, NETLOGON, and SERVER.

  3. Use net share to view Advanced Server's default shared resources:
      Share name Resource Remark
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      ADMIN$ C:\var\opt\lanman Admin Share
      IPC$ IPC Share
      C$ C:\ Root Share
      D$ C:\var\opt\lanman\shares SystemRoot Share
      PRINT$ C:\var\opt\lanman\shares\asu... Printer Driver Share
ASTOOLS C:\var\opt\lanman\shares\ast... Advanced Server Administration ..
      DOSUTIL C:\var\opt\lanman\shares\dos DOS Utilities
      LIB C:\var\opt\lanman\shares\lib Programming Aids
      NETLOGON C:\var\opt\lanman\shares\asu... Logon Scripts Directory
      OS2UTIL C:\var\opt\lanman\shares\os2 OS/2 Utilities

The list might be different, depending on the services that are configured.

  4. Use net user without arguments to view Advanced Server's default user accounts. For example, on the accounting department's server (ACCOUNTING):
       User accounts for \\ACCOUNTING
       ------------------------------------------------------------------------
       Administrator Guest
