The following options should not be modified
by the Netscape server configuration managers:
Server Location
Server Port
Bind Address
Document Root
Chroot Directory
FTP file permissions
The default file permissions on files transferred to an
SCO OpenServer
system using FTP are 644 (world readable)
so that users can transfer WWW publishing files
with FTP.
To change the default file permissions back to the standard UNIX
default permissions of 640, edit the /etc/inetd.conf file
and remove the -u 022 argument from the
following line:
ftp stream tcp nowait root /etc/ftpd ftpd -u 022
Dynamically assigned IP addresses and web servers
Configuring web servers bound to dynamically assigned local
IP addresses (for example, using dynamic PPP)
is not recommended and is unsupported.
Configuring Internet Services
To configure your Internet Services:
As root, start the Internet Manager:
From the Desktop, double-click on the Internet Configuration icon.
From a UNIX window (scoterm or xterm), enter:
scoadmin internet
In the ``User ID'' field, enter admin.
In the ``Password'' field, enter the root user's password.
NOTE:
If you defer setting the root password
during the initial installation procedure,
the admin user's password is set to <Enter>.
Follow the instructions on each screen,
and complete the information fields.
Providing access to unlisted packet filter services
To provide access to a service not listed in the packet filter,
open the TCP ports 1024-5999 and 6006-65535.
To do this:
Start the SCO Internet Manager.
Press the Security button.
Press the Control INTERFACE Data Flow button.
Select the World Wide Web subsystem and press OK.
For each interface you are opening access to
(most people will perform these steps for the
net0 interface only):
Select that interface to configure and press OK.
Set the Inbound ``nonStandard'' option to ``true''
to allow access to an otherwise unlisted service.
Set the outbound ``nonStandard'' to ``true''
to allow an otherwise unlisted service access to the Internet.
