There are two alternative solutions to work around this problem.
Solution #1
Use the "mem=" bootstring to define the available range of
memory for OpenServer to use during installation. First,
determine the memory:
1. Insert the floppy labeled "SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 Boot Disk"
and power up the system. While the system is powering up, note
the amount of system memory (RAM) as reported by the computer's
Power On Self Test (POST).
2. At the Boot: prompt, issue the bootstring:
mem=1m-16m,16m-<total system memory>m/n
where <total system memory> is the number reported by your
computer's POST.
For example, if your machine has 64MB of RAM, the bootstring
would be:
mem=1m-16m,16m-64m/n
3. The Boot: prompt will be displayed again. Follow the instructions
provided with your BTLD to link the BTLD and continue the
installation.
Solution #2
If your BIOS supports disabling shadow memory (RAM) for video,
disable it through the system's setup program.
