Problem
I am trying to install the SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0 or 5.0.2
and the Installation Query Manager (IQM) is failing with the
          following error message:

NOTICE: ram: No space on device on device 31/50
                /ramFS/instdir/iqm/iqm terminated by signal B

** Safe to Power Off **
                           -or-
** Press Any Key to Reboot **

where the letter B may vary. It signifies the signal(S)
(in hex) that the IQM received to cause it to dump core.

NOTE:
The Installation Query Manager is a program, loaded from
your installation media during installation. It is used
by the user to specify the keyboard type, system name and
other details required to install SCO OpenServer onto your
          system.

CAUSE:
The Installation Query Manager (IQM) is dumping core and
          filling the ramdisk.

There are many reasons why the (IQM) might dump core. Some of
          these reasons are discussed below:

                - Incorrectly configured disk and CD-ROM peripherals
                - The IQM was corrupted during transfer to memory
                - The area of memory that the IQM resides in is corrupt
                - You are using an EIDE disk larger than 2Gbytes
                  - The pre-existence of a Windows 95 partition on the disk
                - Possibly other, as-yet-unknown, reasons

Solution
If your installation is failing with the error message described
          above, try the following:

If you are using the ATAPI CD-ROM make sure that the drive is
correctly jumpered as a master or slave device on the EIDE
controller. For further details on ATAPI configuration see:

Technical Article 104918, "I am trying to install an ATAPI/WD CD-ROM as a
            secondary device."

Technical Article 105085, "I get the error 'No SCSI host adapter found' when
            trying to install"

            http://www3.sco.com/Products/freeunix/suppinst.html

If you are using a SCSI device, make sure that the SCSI bus is
terminated correctly and that you are using high quality SCSI
          cables. Then re-try the installation.

Disable any 2nd Level cache facility on your system and re-try
the installation. If this corrects the problem, the 2nd level
cache on your motherboard may be malfunctioning.

If you are using an EIDE disk larger than 2 Gbytes, see
Technical Article 105273, "I'm having problems installing on a large EIDE disk
          drive."

The failure can occur if there is a pre-existing Windows 95
partition occupying the whole disk. Sometimes, deactivating
the Windows partition in DOS fdisk resolves the installation
problem for SCO OpenServer 5. This issue has been reported to
SCO Engineering and is scheduled to be fixed in the next release
of SCO OpenServer 5. See IT/os 2794 for information on a
          related issue.
